Like many people I first met Damian when I was an inpatient at Salisbury Spinal Centre when he was always a smiling positive presence during dahs that could be dark. He came to see me at home when i was discharged and as so many others found he was an amazing font of knowledge.

We also discovered a shared love of online scrabble.... I hope he's getting some practice in because he needs it 😉

Getting to know Marta and seeing them at various Back Up events has been a complete joy. What a special couple who actually met at a Back Up event!

Over the decade since I left Salisbury I've had need of Damian's advice and help on numerous occasions. He always always more than delivered.  His knowledge of sci was unparalleled but crucially so was his willingness to share it.  

The sci community will miss him enormously, and I'm sure i speak for many when i say how keen we are to stay close to what Damian loved most: Marta and his daughters.
